Getting started with inboxy

inboxy gives you @inboxy.net email addresses to hand out instead of your real email, and a daily summary of what arrives at them. This page walks through the first ten minutes.

1. Sign up

Go to inboxy.net/signup, enter the email address where you want your daily summary and time-sensitive forwards to land, and click the verification link we email you.

The link is valid for 15 minutes. If it expires or you don't receive it, just hit /signup again.

2. Your five addresses

After verifying, we mint five @inboxy.net addresses for you. Each is a randomly-generated combination like quiet-otter-47@inboxy.net. You'll see them on the welcome screen and in the welcome email.

Hand any of them out to a website that wants your email — newsletters, receipts, account signups, online stores. Mail to those addresses lands in your inboxy inbox, not your real one.

You can mint more addresses (or retire existing ones) at any time via the API or MCP server.

3. Your API key

The welcome page shows one API key — once. Save it now. We don't store the plaintext; if you lose it, you'll need to mint a replacement.

It's a bearer token for api.inboxy.net and mcp.inboxy.net. With it, you (or an AI agent you trust) can read your inbox, mint addresses, mark messages as read, search semantically, and so on.

4. Connect an AI agent (optional)

If you use Claude / Codex / Copilot or any other MCP-aware client:

  1. Drop the inboxy skill into your agent.
  2. Paste your API key when it asks.
  3. Ask it things like "what did I get today?" or "find that Tesco order confirmation".

The agent operates inside your inboxy inbox only. It cannot reach your Gmail or any other mailbox you have, and it cannot send mail under your name.

5. Wait for the next day

The daily summary lands at the time you chose (default 06:00 UTC at v0.2; per-user timezone customisation lands in the next release).

Time-sensitive mail (login codes, verification links, password resets) is forwarded to your real email the moment it's recognised — no need to wait for the digest.
